Swedish Cavesson Classic - Additional Information
This elegant Swedish cavesson with extra soft padding is especially comfortable for the horse. Its additional return pulleys enable a superior fit around the nose and easy adjustment. The soft padding protects the nose and jawbones and offers even pressure distribution. The cavesson is made of high quality leather with buckles made of stainless steel. Rolls in the buckles enable easy and quick adjustment. An extra layer of leather under the buckle prevents pinching. Keepers provide extra security and a clean look. The removable flash strap threads through a T-shaped loop in the noseband. The T- shaped loop can be removed easily, so the noseband has the clean look of a regular cavesson if used without flash strap.
Correct adjustment
Please make sure that the return pulley system does not lead to faster tightening of the noseband. The noseband is not supposed to be closed more tightly than in other nosebands.
A cavesson should fit around the nose about one to two fingers’ width underneath the cheekbones. Make sure that the cavesson rests on the strong part of the horse’s nasal bone. The crownpiece should lie behind the headstall at the horse's poll to avoid the cheekpiece sliding toward the eyes.
The cavesson should be closed in such a manner that you can easily fit 1-2 fingers under it at the nasal bone. The horse is supposed to be able to open its mouth a little and to be able to chew the bit unrestrictedly. Bear in mind that a noseband is only used to restrict excessive opening of the mouth and consider that the horse’s soft nostrils compress as the noseband is tightened. During exercise, the nostrils flare to allow more air intake and the noseband can constrict breathing if tightened too much.
